Lunar bead #2

Reinback Iris Orange and Effetre Ink Blue over a core of white. There's x over the Iris and BeadySam's Midnight Magic frit over the Ink Blue, with more white used to make the moon.

I'd like the Iris to have struck darker, but other than that I'm very pleased with this one.

Really need to get some silver foil though.

Lunar bead

I had a quite porductive weekend, but my new digital camera is useless at taking photos of beads. So that was a waste of money *sigh*

Anyway, this is my first attempt at a lunar bead. I'm quite impressed, even if I did have to use stringer for the stars rather than silver foil (because I don't have silver foil).

Workspace!

H and I picked up the worksurface yesterday and popped to B&Q for fittings. By the time we'd done that and had dinner ut was time for the kids to go to bed, so actual fitting needed to be put off until this morning.

But here it is!

The pots contain the little frit I have, the fan isn't really needed until I'm on bulk fuel but it was £3 from tesco so... yeah. I posted this picture on Frit Happens and apparently it's far too tidy and I need to mess it up.

Oh do I ever!

Can't wait to get some gas and play!!!

Meet up at Kaz's

This afternoon I went to Kaz’s studio to meet up with a hoard of like-minded people, ogle some beautiful lampwork and finally have a go at torching myself.

I impressed myself by a) not burning any part of my body, b) not shocking the glass and c) making something that actually resembled a bead! It’s even round. Ish. I’ll post photos once I have fresh batteries in my camera (that was well planned, wasn’t it?

I made two more - one that roughly matched the first (lilac glass with pink dots) and one in blue with black stringer, which I cocked up a little, but ah well!

Am totally in love and been browsing Freecycle and eBay all day. I eventually found a use kitchen worksurface for all of £15 in order to set up my workspace. This is going in the kitchen and some progress should be made this week.
